Lindsay john is a Dance Performance Artist, Sculptor and Lecturer based in Glasgow, Scotland. Though initially trained in the Fine Arts, he actively pursues new directions in performance combining aspects of sculpture, costume / body appendage and installation into his own dance works. Since 1987 his primary area of research has been in Butoh, the radical Japanese dance approach, from which he derives courage and direction. For this he has travelled twice to Japan both to study and to perform on invitation.  

He has shown his performance works in a wide variety of international venues and festivals including: the ICA – London; Hinoemata Performance Festival & Kawaguchi World Festival Fusion – Japan; Valladolid International Festival of Theatre – Spain; Singapore Festival of Arts; and the CCA, Tramway (Mayfest & NRLA) and Traverse Theatres – Scotland.

Lindsay is also a director and choreographer and designs and creates experimental contemporary costume for his own performance events as well as for other performers, companies and outdoor celebratory events.
